Program Overview:
Launched in 2007 Arts on the Move is designed to provide resources to students and artists at New York area colleges who want to produce high- calider cultural experiences exploring Jewish themes and ideas. A student driven program, Arts on the Move helps shepard strong, student-initiated cultural projects from conception to completion by offering resourfces, facilities and professional mentoring. It simultaneously supports the careers of Jewish artists living in New York State by providing them opportunities to mentor students and foster their own professional artistic pursuits.
Arts on the Move was initiated by funding from UJA-Federation of New York, and is managed by the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at New York University.
Role of Arts on the Move student liaison
The Arts on the Move liaison is responsible for:
- One Student Liasion will be selcted for each participating campus
- Acting as ambassador for Arts on the Move on campus
- Along with the local Hillel staff, conduct outreach to your college's arts students and faculty
- Promote Arts on the Move events and projects
- Solicit a minimum of 8 project proposals during the course of the school year
- Along with the Arts on the Moves Director and Hillel staff, evaluate proposals for artistic merit and Jewish content
-Along with Hillel staff manage 1 "blockbuster" event on campus each semester
- Attend events, take pictures for the Arts on the Move website and, along with the student initiator, fill out program evaluations after each event.
-Post pics, comments and updates once a week to the AOM blog, Facebook, or Twitter
- Write up an end of the year evaluation on the program and personal performance
Qalifications
-Currently enrolled students at a participating NY area college
-Interest in arts
-Strong outreach and network ability
- Familiar with and user of online social networking tools
Compensation
The Student Liaison Internship offers a stipend of $400 per year, payable in two installments throughout the school year. The first half of the stipend will be awared mid-way through the year and the second at the end of the school year upon successful completion of all required program evaluations.
Student Liasions will also have several opportunities throughout the school year to come together and meet with infulential community leaders, professionals and funders for skill builiding and professional networking workshops. If eligible Student Liaisions will also recieve a guarenteed spot on a special arts focused Arts on the Move Birthright Israel Trip.
